(More customer reviews)I always do my homework by reading the amazon reviews for items I plan to buy. I read about the poor construction of this toy, but given a lack of other choices, I decided to take my chances anyway and hope for the best. Sure enough, 2 of the 6 pins holding this toy together were broken upon arrival. Instead of going through the return hassle, I just moved the 4 good pins to the corners for now to keep it secure, and I'll look for my own hardware to fix it myself. There was no box damage at all; this toy just isn't very durable. If you decide to buy anyway, I hope you are luckier than I was!

(More customer reviews)This is a really cool product that create a fun and unique gift or keepsake. The directions are pretty straightforward and easy to follow. You need to be able to get a laser copy (on included special paper)of the image you want to transfer, which you can do at Kinkos. My other gripe is that when you actually glue the magnets on the finished product, you can see a circle where the transfer medium used as glue ruins the paint and re-lifts the image a little. I would try using very little medium (I may have used too much) or a different glue than the included medium.

(More customer reviews)This metal loom is far better than the plastic one I have. My nephew is making these for Christmas presents. One done so far and he is thrilled! At age 5 it's too slow and frustrating to sit long enough to do the 'weaving' part and finishing-off, but he loves to do the beginning of the project with the cross pieces. I do the 2nd half and he's delighted with the outcome of something we have made for him to give for Christmas. I believe an older child will enjoy even the cross-weaving, and the fun that comes with seeing the competed craft. Definitely recommend.
