(More customer reviews)I always do my homework by reading the amazon reviews for items I plan to buy. I read about the poor construction of this toy, but given a lack of other choices, I decided to take my chances anyway and hope for the best. Sure enough, 2 of the 6 pins holding this toy together were broken upon arrival. Instead of going through the return hassle, I just moved the 4 good pins to the corners for now to keep it secure, and I'll look for my own hardware to fix it myself. There was no box damage at all; this toy just isn't very durable. If you decide to buy anyway, I hope you are luckier than I was!

MOVING SAND PICTURE SCULPTURE IN ASSORTED COLORS Review

(More customer reviews)When I was a kid, my older brother had this fairly-large, oval-shaped moving sand picture-toy. It was so cool and I absolutely loved to play with it until it broke and eventually disappeared one day (probably got thrown out).
Ever since then, I've been searching for the same item and this product is the closest I've seen. I was thrilled when it arrived in the mail until I discovered that, unfortunately, it's a sad facsimile. It is much smaller than the one we had, the sand/liquid just don't flow the same way, and the sand is constantly getting stuck here and there. I recently came across one of these in our local thrift shop and noticed it had the same problem. I imagine the former owner probably donated it for that reason.
I guess I was spoiled by the quality of the original version we had years ago. I sure wish I could find it somewhere again. As far as this item is concerned, all I can say is that, sadly, they just don't make things the way they used to.
